Collins Arch is a mixed-use, sustainable wonder in Melbourne’s central business district.

By Melbourne’s Yarra River is Collins Arch, a 164-metre high-end, mixed-use development designed in collaboration between Shop Architects and Woods Bagot. The two towers come together to create an arched form that contains 184 deluxe residential apartments, the five-star luxury hotel W Melbourne, almost 50,000 sq m of WELL-certified offices, and 950 sq m of retail space. Because of its unique shape, every space has abundant natural light and views.

Through the design’s attention to indoor environment quality, emissions, and materials, among other factors, Collins Arch has achieved a 6-star Green Star Design & As Built certified rating, indicating that the building is at a level of “World Leadership” in sustainable design.

Taking cues from the building’s top-line offerings and its sustainability focus, the lavish apartments showcase that same level of attention to every detail and comfort. Finished in Brushed Nickel, Sussex’s Scala and Milli Pure taps were used in the kitchens and bathrooms, their classic forms blending in seamlessly with the spaces’ contemporary, minimalist designs. As an Australian-made brand, Sussex is proud to use local materials to create the brass that is the basis for our tapware.

This means that the fixtures are infinitely recyclable and long lasting, accentuating the building’s sustainability ethos in even the smaller elements of the apartments. We also provided custom services for the project by simplifying the floor mount mixer installation to speed up installation time as well as creating custom length spouts for each apartment. About 160 custom floor mounts were created, with everything delivered in ten weeks.
