The Block 2021
In 2021, The Block, Nine Network’s popular design-focused realty television series, set two couples from previous seasons against three new couples for their seventeenth season.
With five houses to be renovated in Hampton, Victoria, the five couples competed against each other, by room, over 12 weeks before their houses were sold at auction to see which team would be able to make the largest profit. Out of the five teams, three preferred to use bathroom fixtures and accessories from our Milli Pure and Scala collections.
Ronnie and Georgia, professional renovators from Perth and former contestants on season 13, chose to use our Milli Pure and Scala lines in Brushed Brass. The warm golden tones and classic style of the hardware worked beautifully with the calm colour palette and natural materials to create a luxe, spa-like experience.
For Tanya and Vito, a makeup artist and business owner from Melbourne, this was their first time competing. They went with a modern, Mediterranean feel, using terracotta tiles for a feature wall and terrazzo floor tiling. Beautifully accenting the peach concrete basins and arched mirrors were the many products from the Milli Pure collection in Matt Black.
Their bold aesthetic referenced retro influences found in the lighting fixtures, dark wood vanity, orange bath tiles, and our Milli Pure fixtures in Matt Black. Balancing the dark colours, though, are the softer curved shapes of the arched shower screen, mirrors, and hardware, creating a unique harmony in the room.
As the youngest contestants, Josh and Luke, twins from Sydney, had the least experience of all the teams. For their bathroom, the duo went with a more moody tone, using dark grey tiles on the floor and walls and a Venetian plaster feature wall to add hotel-inspired style. Our Milli Pure shower fixtures, along with other accessories in Brushed Nickel, helped tie the concept together.
The outdoor bath and private garden was the biggest feature in Josh and Luke’s master ensuite. They chose our Milli Pure Floor Mounted Bath Mixer in Brushed Nickel to add that luxury touch in the backdrop of lush green foliage. In the rest of the bathroom, the light coloured tiles and wood vanity play off the brightness of the space, making the entire room a relaxing indoor-outdoor part of the home.
