Contemporary Cottage - House 12By Three Birds Renovation

Located in Windsor, a historic town outside of Sydney, the Contemporary Cottage is the twelfth project from the Three Birds Renovations design team of Bonnie, Lana, and Erin. This traditional cottage was in need of a modern update to better accommodate a family of four.

A large part of the renovation was changing the colour palette to revolve around more natural, earthy tones to add warmth to every room. Pieces from our Scala and Milli Pure collections in Living Rustic Bronze beautifully contrast and integrate with the new colours and textures in the main bathroom, ensuite, kitchen, and Euro laundry. The clean, classic forms of the two collections also blend in with the spaces’ minimalist, open layouts.

The design trio also opened up the floor plan of the dated home to provide space that could better fit the flow of a modern family. The focus was around adding more natural light and functionality. Walls were removed to provide an even larger kitchen and master bedroom while an alfresco extension was included in the renovation for better access and use of the backyard.

The doorway arches became statements in the home, helping to define areas and passageways as well as pay respect to the heritage of the building. After this amazing renovation, the cottage now has the flexibility and space for a modern family.
