Carrickalinga Shed
Situated on a hilltop along the coast of South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, Carrickalinga Shed is the stunning interpretation of an Australian Federation Farmhouse.
Carrickalinga Shed with its contemporary homestead design has a strong focus on sustainability, with deep integration of environmental health and human wellbeing. The homes ethos is formed around the clients belief that “We breathe deeply and live longer.”
The client’s dedication to environmental sustainability is signified by the installation of a 250,000-litre rainwater tank and a 23-kilowatt solar system with a 45-kilowatt battery, installed during planning to facilitate their use throughout the construction process.

The serene hilltops of South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula were selected for the expansive views and natural beauty. Such a location required a robust and resilient building design to withstand the harsh landscape.
The homestead is designed around four zones – each able to be shut off when unoccupied – radiate around an internal courtyard, which is a cornerstone of the project’s sustainability and liveability objectives.
